Sustainability

THEORY HOUR
In Theory Hour I learned about Architecture 2030. Mr. John Lynn quoted “We are the storm on this planet”. By this he means that “we” as a whole are ruining this planet. Some characteristic of a storm (us) is constructive/destructive, we are agents of transformation, dynamic even, not a place or a thing, and It's a process. 2030 has many challenges some of them are measurable target goals, benchmarked timeline, Building Design Leader and carbon use/ operate buildings. AIA 2030’s objective is to make everything carbon neutral by 2030, especially buildings that are already built. They are big on recycling and protecting environment. The point is that many times we tend to create Global Warming. This means that we ourselves alter the environment. One of the example is how they decided to build underneath the church yet, they kept the outer structure as well as the red roof. This building is located in the center of a very busy street, however, since it is very small it stands out.
The new types of things they are trying to change is everybody going green, changing blueprints and guidelines. We learned that we are the ones that are transforming this world by each second do to the way that we live on this planet.
Some statistics were as follows: CARBON NEUTRALITY
50% now
60% 2010
80% 2020
100% 2030
